This map earns the GMD Seal of Approval!

This is an excelent little map where many great battles will be fought. With a great look, a solid layout, and some much needed "controled creativity" this map is a good model for small maps. And for some clarification, this map is not in any way related to Gloom 6, Gloom Mines. The Pyro says he choose that name because of the textures he used were mostly from the Mines section of Q2SP.

As a human, you spawn into a kami proof room, which is followed by a room that looks like an excelent place to build a turret, plop down a depo, and repair some armor. You can take the mine shaft down to the cave below, which is followed by a cat walk over a lava pit. Or you can take the other two above ground routes and see all the beutiful texturing. The Pyro realy did an excelent job with them. The lighting is just right, you can see the walls, but not the spiders.

As a spider, You spawn onto a large metal platform over a pool of lava with some gravity bins and a couple of ledges overhead. You have two ways to exit the base; a front exit, wich leads to a hallway full of ledges and places for Hatchies to hide, and a back exit, which is a hallway full of crates with a pipe system overhead.

BUT, had he released the map in its original version, then it would have been a disaster. Pyro realized that scince it was the gloom public who would be playing it, he should release it to us for playtesting. This allowed us to catch many problems with the initial versions. Let that be a lesson to you mappers.

So, all in all, a great map that will be played for a long time.

Comment: Actualy, thats where this levels name comes from, as you will read in the middle. The textures he used are one of the best parts about it. They give the whole map a millitary base look, and it looks as good as most SPQ2 maps. Excelent texture usage here.

Comment: A good solid layout here. Although its small, its very well layed out, and the spiders base has two compleatly seperate entrances. there are also many ways to the human base, and the human spawns are kami proof. As long as to many people arn't playing the game, then lay out is fine. Too many people tend to clog it up and cause camping and rushing, but thats just because its a small map. However, there are very few base relocation spots, and that tends to hurt the dynamics of a game.

Comment: Lots of that here, too. The spider base is suspended over a pool of lava, as is the underground section. And he managed to make a map with a diffrent feel than any other gloom map. I wish I could give 3.5 cubes.

Comment: Very well done map with just a few problems. I have a feeling that this one will be around for awhile.
