GMD Verdict | Review of Deltitnu H20 Storage Facility "It's huge, it's different, it's got a lotta places to build..."
When i first took a look at Deltitnu, i was expecting a lot from Lynch_Hung. However, i wasn't too thrilled when i ran the map.. At first the map seemed very small. I wasn't excited about the textures either. But once i started to look around and i played a couple of games on it, my view changed.. Where shall i start? This map is HUGE! I'm pretty sure it's bigger than LostBase! (that's hard to beat) My original impressions were squashed when i noclipped around the map for the first time. There's just so much to do on this map, so many places to explore, so many places to build.. In fact, i'm a big fan of maps that have lots of places to make bases in, and this map has just that. It's quite frustrating at first, when you don't know your way around the map. But i find learning it comes pretty quickly. This is partly because every hallway in the map, every room, is unique. When you look at Infested Caverns for example, the map is fairly consistent - blue caverns leads to.. more blue caverns. But this map, you just never know where you'll end up -- and that's good, when you're trying to learn the map. Unique areas become reference points in your memory. Gameplay is the map's strong point. While the map *is* very bright, it shouldn't pose a big problem for spiders, as there are so many paths to get to where you want to go, you can almost always find an alternate route. Not to mention there are a lot of hiding places. My biggest complaint stems from the texture/lighting on the map. I have to admit i've seen better. Come on Lynch, look at your crates.. You're using the texture used for the top of the crate, on ALL sides of it! Most crates have missaligned textures.. Lighting is a problem in some areas, especially in the "sewers". You can clearly see the ugly light spots on the surface of the water. Nope, visuals are NOT the map's strong point. All in all, from what i've seen there's a lot of good stuff in this map, and i'm sure a lot of interesting battles will be fought on it. Comment: As much as i like this map in terms of gameplay, i can't say looks are it's strong point. Textures are okay, but many are misaligned (crates, oh the crates..) and lighting isn't superb. Some areas seem very plain and ordinary while some are stimulating and cool. Overall, i just can't give more than 2 cubes for the textures/lighting.. |

Comment: This map is gigantic.. i'm almost sure it's bigger than.. *gasp* LostBase. At first the map seems quite small, but upon further exploration, you'll see just how huge it is. There's just so much to see and do.. Another plus is the fact every hallway, every room, is unique. This helps a great deal in remembering the map when you play it. However, inconsistency can be a visual headache, i personally find it a bit irritating.. Nevertheless, layout is great. |

Comment: To say this map is "original" is an understatement. It's huge, it's vast and it's different. This map has a lot of cool unique stuff in it. Some of the largest rooms in the map are so complex you've just gotta wonder how long it took Lynch_Hung to make them. |

Comment: Overall the map is quite good. While the textures/lighting aren't perfect, they are more than acceptable. The map excels in terms of gameplay. Even though most of the map is bright (bad for spiders), there's so many paths to get from point A to point B that usually it's not a big problem. All in all, this is a good map. Three cubes and a GMD Seal of Approval :) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
